Prior to joining BPPA in August 2004, Gerry worked for several Members of Parliament in Westminster. He has considerable Parliamentary and Select Committee experience and knowledge of how Westminster and Whitehall operate.
Gerry has also worked for the John Smith Institute, a leading organisation in the charitable sector, where he developed and advanced ideas on economic and social policy and edited their publications.
At BPPA, Gerry works with a number of FTSE 100 companies and public sector bodies and is principally responsible for constructing compelling political narratives for his clients.
One of Gerry’s notable achievements was doing pro-bono work to ensure the smooth passage of a Private Member’s Bill - The International Development (Reporting and Transparency) Bill – onto the statute book. The Act ensures the government is obliged to report annually to parliament on the amount and effectiveness of expenditure on international aid. Gerry oversaw campaign strategy and tactics, tackling political opposition to the Bill through media articles and editorials, and by delivering endorsements from the NGO community and high profile individuals, including Sir Bob Geldof.
Currently, Gerry is becoming increasingly involved in tracking EU policy and regulatory issues and is working on expanding BPPA’s EU affairs capability.
Gerry has a Master of Philosophy in International Political Economy from the University of Glasgow and has a keen interest in emerging economies and social policy.
